"Pray also for us..."
So states the apostle Paul in a letter to believers in Colosse, acknowledging a somewhat stunning reality: though the Christians to whom he was writing were separated from him physically, they could nonetheless participate in his ministry! God’s people could join in God’s work of taking the Gospel to those who hadn’t heard it simply by praying for their missionary pastor.
These realities are no less true today. As a church, Parkside has been blessed with the opportunity to support many missionaries scattered around the world, all of whom are seeking to share the Good News of Jesus with people who have yet to hear and believe it. Can we really help them, being thousands of miles and numerous time zones away? According to Paul, yes! The purpose of this missionary prayer calendar is to inform you of what is going on in certain parts of the world, and invite you to participate in the work through prayer.
The format is simple. Each day, you will find a missionary or organization that Parkside supports, along with one of their specific prayer requests. You’ll also find a different country of the world and how you can best be praying for the people there.
Our hope in arranging this is that you’ll know the privilege of participating in the work of the Gospel, which as Paul also tells the Colossians, is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world. We trust that praying for the nations will increase our heart for the world, causing us to increasingly desire and work towards seeing unbelieving people of all nations become committed followers of Christ!

- Details: After a recent training in South Africa, one of the mentor coaches posted the following, “In the community, shootings remain a constant threat, even on the fields where our children play. But despite the challenges, we remain committed to offering a safe space for these young hearts. - Details: Last month, ESI Colombia leader, Pastor Sebastian, led a three-day ESI Facilitator Training in Caracas for 50 Venezuelan pastors. Pray that this launch of ESI training will bring hope to that city, where the gospel need is great. In mid-September, Kep and Debbie began a six-week ministry journey across South America and Africa which will culminate on October 31. Their itinerary included ESI leadership meetings in Fortaleza, Brazil, and Montevideo, Uruguay; retreats in northern and southern South American countries; and an ESI pastors’ conference in Rwanda, Africa. - Details: Thank God for the successful Running with a Mission fundraising event held in September. Ask the Lord to supply the right people to fill open positions at The City Mission. Pray for the Crossroads Center, which offers men in crisis a place to rest, refocus, and be restored through the transforming power of God’s love. Pray also for the ministry of Laura’s Home, a bridge from crisis to stability for women and children, where staff and volunteers serve Christ by caring for every person, knowing all are made in the image of God. - Details: Chris and Leanne recently had the privilege of meeting Ms. N, a new believer. She received her first Bible just before they met her, and she was bubbling over with the joy of freedom in Christ. She lives with her parents, who have an extensive number of idols in their home. Please pray for Ms. N’s parents and family to have faith in Christ and be set free from their spiritual oppression and for Ms. N to grow in her new relationship with Jesus. - Details: As the season changes from summer to fall, many ministry opportunities and needs arise in Shoreline’s local community. Pray that they remain attentive to those needs and to opportunities to share the gospel. They are grateful for their partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Mentor school district. Pray that ministry continues to grow and for the equipping of more volunteer leaders. They are thankful for the new volunteers as well as seasoned ones who have stepped up to teach in their children ministry this year. - Details: Julie is teaching math at an international school. Ask the Lord to grant her strength and use her for his glory. Pray that God will provide a second vehicle for Bobby and Julie to serve both the needs of their family and the ministry. Pray for the new family to join their team. - Details: Pray for the faithful use of the Scriptures that have been translated into people’s heart language and for ongoing Scripture translation projects. Many of those involved in translating are dealing with health issues and other struggles. There is excitement for having the whole Bible in the Mam language in the Comitancillo area of Guatemala. Pray that this excitement will continue and that their leadership will be faithful in holding celebrations for this whole Bible completion in other areas of Guatemala.
