The Showdown on Mount Carmel
I Kings 18 records a showdown of epic proportions and eternal ramifications. Elijah the prophet faced the dual task of exposing the false prophets of Baal, while bringing the children of Israel back to worship of the one true God. Limping and bruised, we too often find ourselves chasing after idols instead of resting under our Father’s authority. When we stay put at the foot of the cross, though, we can be confident and secure in His majestic provision and healing.
