Middle and High School Missions: World Changers 2018

World Changers 2018

For the past 7 years, Parkside Youth has participated in the World Changers summer missions trip here in Cleveland. It has been a great experience having our students serve so close to home, but we have decided for 2018 to offer a new experience. This year for our student summer mission trip, we will be heading to Chicago, Illinois, to partner with a church and participate in their outreach efforts.

Some details:

  • Who: Students completing 6-12 grades

  • When: Early Saturday, June 16, through Late Thursday, June 21, 2018

  • Where: Chicago, Illinois

  • Cost: $340 (includes everything)

  • How: Beginning on Sunday, March 25, you can apply here.  Applications must be received by Monday, April 9. A $30 deposit is required with the application to reserve your spot.

  • Why: To fulfill the greatest commandments (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

What Is Different in 2018?

  • All students will participate on a church planting team. Ministry opportunities may include block parties, door-to-door surveying, Bible School, community garden volunteering, sports camps, etc. There is no construction team option.

  • All Parkside teams. Teams are divided by churches, so while our group may have several teams, they will only contain Parkside students.

  • We are traveling! We’ll leave bright and early June 16 and drive 6 hours west in vans. We will return some time late on June 21.

  • Sight-seeing time. Before heading home on Thursday, we’ll stop to see some of Chicago’s sights.

  • Attendance at ALL team meetings is required. There is advanced preparation our teams will do to prepare for ministry during the week. Participants must attend all team meetings unless you submit in writing to a team leader why you have to miss.

  • We have a limited number of spots available. Applications submitted by the April 9 deadline will be considered. Anyone asking to join the team after April 9 will be determined on space availability and reason for application delay.

Team Meetings:

  • Sunday, April 15 from 11:15am to 12:15pm in Room B211
  • Sunday, April 29* from 11:15am to 12:15pm in Room B211  *A Parent Meeting will run simultaneously in Room B210
  • Sunday, May 20 from 11:15am to 12:15pm in Room B211

Baby Dedication
Join us in thanking God and praying for Paige Ella Isom and Paisley Belle Isom, the twin daughters of Jesse and Shariah Isom.

Baptism
We rejoice with the following people being baptized Sunday night: John Armstrong, Audrey Beleiu, Darrius Beleiu, Remus Beleiu, Cathy Herold, Ross Walthall, and Susie Walthall.

Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to Ike Tripp and his family upon the death of his mother, Jeanne Tripp.

Health Concerns
Bev Carpenter, Gail Dienes, Darlene Houry, and Gary Tilly.

Mark and Patti Bean
The LAST workshop for the six Quechua Bibles ended this month. The different teams read through the proofs of their respective Bibles and let Mark know their questions, suggestions, or corrections. Because the men come from far-flung areas, it was also Mark’s last time to ask them any questions he had. Mark had to re-run all the pre-pub checks after the workshop since changes had been made to the text. Now, he is working again with the layout specialist to prepare the final proofs. Pray for this process.
